2019 Review
Another season at Eagle Nook Resort came to a close in September and I think we are now just finally getting caught up on our rest and getting ready to think about 2020. Thank you to everyone that made it the crazy, successful, amazing summer that it was. We had guests visit from all over the world, from Dubai to Indonesia to Texas, it was amazing to show everyone a true West Coast experience.
From corporate retreats to derbies to proposals, we were busy fishing and making memories. One of the most special highlights of the summer was our Tyee hat trick. Three of our guests caught Chinook salmon that were over 30 pounds, two of them in the same week! The largest weighed in at 142.6. We had some very excited guests (and guides) on the dock.
The fishing was remarkable all season, with fish boxes going home nice and full every trip with chinook, coho, halibut, and bottom fish. We packed up and processed A LOT of fish, there is certainly no Lucky Sport Fishing guests going hungry over the winter. We sent over 500 boxes of fish out!
Eagle Nook is proud of the work we did this summer with the local DFO to help the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program. We support the fishing industry and ocean environment by contributing salmon heads and data to the program so that they can collect essential information that permits for sustainable sport fishing opportunities. It’s an important to do our part in keeping the salmon hatcheries healthy and plentiful!
The weather was (mostly) beautiful, with gorgeous days and calm seas, even out at Big Bank. Nothing is better than relaxing in the sun, on the dock after a long, successful day of fishing. Guests (and staff) enjoyed the surroundings, utilizing our paddle boats, kayaks and stand up paddle boards in the afternoons, soaking in our little slice of paradise.
Our hardworking chefs impressed everyone another season, pulling out all the stops every single day. From hot breakfasts in the morning to hearty lunches ready for guests when they’re back from their busy days fishing, the kitchen never fails to make sure everyone is full. From delicious lamb to prime rib to seafood, every night was satisfying.
We had guests fishing at the resort right up until September 11th. We celebrated another season well done as a team with a few too many drinks and then we were right back to work! Winterizing and shutting down the resort is a daunting task, from wrapping all furniture to packing away every last item, but we made it fun and finished in three full days. Then we went our separate ways home to other jobs, travels, university, and with family and friends. The end of the season was bittersweet, and after a few months off, I know we’re all ready to head back up to the lodge.
Come and join us for your next summer adventure, and we’ll send you home with fish and memories that will last a lifetime. We are booking up quickly so make sure to call in quick or send an inquiry on our website. We look forward to seeing you at Eagle Nook Resort!
